Pregnant cow shot, partially butchered in southern Minnesota

A farmer south of Rochester discovered one of his cows shot dead and partially butchered, according to the Mower County Sheriff's Office. 

Per Sheriff Steve Sandvik, the cow was pregnant and had been shot and had its backstraps and both hind quarters removed prior to the farmer finding it in a field in the 27000 block of Mower Fillmore Road on Sunday. 

The calf did not survive. The cow was valued at approximately $1,700. 

Anyone with information that could help law enforcement in its investigation is asked to call the Mower County Sheriff's Office at 507-437-9400 and press option #1 to speak to an investigator.
