Fans attending Prince's gigs at the Dakota Jazz Club this week apparently aren't the only people who want a piece of the Minnesota musical icon.

According to Billboard, Prince is going to be honored with an Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards May 19.

The show will be broadcast live on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

Past recipients of the Icon Award include Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond.

Prince, 54, had his hometown fans scurrying for tickets to the Dakota this week when, in an unexpected announcement, the Purple One said he would be playing a sound check Wednesday, a jam session with an "afterparty vibe" Thursday, and a surprise performance Friday.

Billboard says Prince will perform at the ceremony.
