The principal of Harrisburg High School in South Dakota was injured in a shooting at the school Wednesday morning.

A teenage student at the school, located about 10 miles south of Sioux Falls, was arrested. No students were injured in the incident, which began just after 10 a.m.

At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, police said a student entered the school and made their way to the main office, where they got in a physical struggle with the principal. That's when the principal was shot one time in the arm.

Another staff member heard the shot and tackled the student, holding them down until police arrived and took the student into custody, police said.

Officials believe the student acted alone and there was no risk to people at other schools in the district.

The principal – Dr. Kevin Lein – suffered a "flesh wound" and is in stable condition, the Argus Leader reports. School Superintendent Jim Holbeck said Lein called him from the hospital and is in good spirits, KELO tweeted.

Students were taken from the high school by bus to the middle school to be picked up, KELO says. The school remains in lockdown.

It's not clear if school will be in session on Thursday, Holbeck said at the news conference.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.

People took to Twitter to send messages of support for students and Dr. Lein using the hashtag #prayforlein.
