Punch Pizza reaches out to laid-off Pie Five workers
Earlier this week, a national pizza chain abruptly shut down two Twin Cities restaurants, leaving 15-20 workers without jobs. Now, a local pizza chain is coming to the laid-off workers' rescue.
Punch Neapolitan Pizza announced Friday it's starting to hire for its new Eagan location.
And since two Twin Cities Pie Five restaurants just closed, Punch is prioritizing interviews for those workers who were laid off.
Punch is hiring cooks, managers, pizza makers and other employees. And the local company has a guaranteed starting wage of $11 per hour. Managers can make more than $100,000 a year.

The Eagan spot will be Punch Pizza's 11th location. It'll be in the Central Park Commons, near Hy-Vee and Total Wine.
The local company has received national attention on a number of occasions.
In 2014, former president Barack Obama praised Punch in his State of the Union Address for raising starting wages. Meryl Streep has called it the “Greatest Pizza in the World.” It's also been featured in USA Today and the Food Network.
