The recruiter for a family of sex traffickers was convicted on six counts of prostitution and sex-trafficking in Ramsey County District Court Friday night. A jury returned the verdict a few hours after getting the case. The Pioneer Press reports Antonio Washington-Davis, 27, of Brooklyn Park, persuaded four young women and one girl to have sex for money in a house on the 600 block of Hawthorne Avenue on St. Paul's East Side.

Two uncles pleaded guilty to lesser felony charges for their roles in the ring. Washington-Davis' brother's retrial is scheduled to begin next week after a jury last summer failed to return a verdict.

His girlfriend also faces charges.

The StarTribune says the prosecution argued that Washington-Davis lavished gifts and attention on vulnerable women and girls, and then sold sex with them on

“This defendant and his co-conspirators enslaved several women and girls for their own financial gain, and inflicted unimaginable harm on their victims, as well as our community over a considerable period of time,” said Ramsey County Attorney John Choi.

Washington-Davis was convicted for crimes that occurred 2010-2012, but police said the family has been involved in sex-trafficking for many years.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 19.
