Remains of man missing for 3 years found in northern MN
The remains of a man who went missing nearly three years ago have been found in a heavily wooded area of Cass County in northern Minnesota.
David Rickbeil, of Ham Lake, was reported missing on July 13, 2018, at age 60, with officials noting his vehicle was found running and unoccupied on County Road 48 in rural Remer.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that on June 7 of this year, a survey crew located human remains in a "swampy and heavily wooded area" of Blind Lake Township.
The remains were positively identified as belonging to Rickbeil, noting there is no indication of foul play and it's likely he walked away from his vehicle.
After Rickbeil went missing, there were extensive searches by foot, ATV, drone, air support and with K9s. He was not located.
