Rep. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, will return to the legislature after receiving 12 more votes then Democratic challenger Bob Cunniff in a recount that wrapped up Thursday.

Results are not official until the Canvassing Board certifies the votes on Tuesday. Cunniff is challenging four ballots.

At first count, Franson was in the lead by just one vote which prompted an automatic recount.

But after it was discovered votes were mistakenly cast in the wrong district, the canvassing board threw out 35 ballots, widening Franson's lead to 11 votes.
