Two days after Adrian Peterson's reported visit with the New England Patriots and it's just now coming out that Peterson was put through a tryout by Patriots head coach Bill Belichik, the Boston Globe's Ben Volin.

The extent to which Peterson was tested is unknown, but 247 Sports New England speculates that because Belichick was involved it likely means the Patriots are seriously considering the 32-year-old running back.

Peterson left without signing a contract, but Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis thinks the Patriots would be an ideal fit for him.

"I think they can be (the right team) because they're not gonna over utilize him in terms of running the football," Bettis explained to NFL Network. "They want to run the football, but they're gonna be games during the course of the season that the Patriots say 'You know what? We're not gonna run the football that much. We're gonna throw it around.' They come out every week with a different gameplan so that will bode well for Adrian Peterson because when he does get the football, you know what to expect from him. He's gonna be downhill in a hurry."

Interestingly, the baggage that comes with Peterson from his 2014 suspension has a lot of Patriots fans hoping he signs elsewhere, even if he's playing at an All-Pro level, according to CSN New England.
