Report: Celtics and Sixers in 'serious' trade talks over No. 1 pick

Boston and Philadelphia are in talks for a trade that would include the No. 1 and No. 3 overall picks in the 2017 NBA Draft.

ESPN is reporting the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers are in "serious" trade talks involving the No. 1 overall pick in next week's NBA Draft.

NBA beat writer Marc Stein had the initial report.

The 76ers own the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. The Celtics were awarded the rights to the No. 1 pick after Brooklyn traded it away in the blockbuster deal that brought Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to the Nets in 2013

Now, Boston GM Danny Ainge is allegedly looking to make a trade involving that very pick again.

University of Washington point guard Markelle Fultz, who averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game as a freshman, is the consensus No. 1 prospect in this year's draft class. Boston already has All-Star Isaiah Thomas in the fold at the point, which makes the sacrifice of passing up a talent like Fultz a lot easier to swallow.

Philadelphia likely has their eyes on the 6'4" scoring sensation.

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported what the cost would be for Philadelphia to move from three to one.

Philadelphia has plenty of future firsts to dole out. They own the Los Angeles Lakers' 2018 first-round pick, as well as the Sacramento Kings 2019 first-rounder.
