A new national report indicates there has been some improvement in Minnesota's high school graduation rate, MPR reports.

According to data from the National Center for Education Statistics released Tuesday, 88.2 percent of Minnesota students in 2010 graduated after four years in high school. That's up a point over the year before, and up almost four points over seven years, MPR notes.

Only Wisconsin, Vermont and North Dakota had better graduation rates.

MPR reports that statistics kept by the Minnesota Department of Education offer a more accurate – and less impressive – picture of the state's graduation rate. The most recent data from the state say Minnesota had a four-year graduation rate of 76.9 percent in 2011, with scant increases in recent years.

Nationwide, graduation rates are at a four-year high, the Washington Post reports.
