A Red Wing resident prompted an emergency response after reporting a shooting that turned out to be a hallucination.

According to Red Wing PD, officers were scrambled to a house on the 1300 block of Bush Street at 7:25 a.m. Monday after someone called 911 saying a person was in their home shooting at their family with a shotgun.

The Goodhue County Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to assist, while officers continued to speak with the caller.

The caller was claiming that a person had shot multiple people inside the home, but the emergency response team arrived and a quick sweep of the house found it to be empty and nobody injured.

"It was determined that the caller had hallucinated the event," Red Wing PD said.

The resident was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for assistance.
