A medical examiner says the violent death of a 68-year-old artist found slain in her north Minneapolis home last week could have had multiple causes, reports say.
The examiner's finding that Susan Spiller died of "complex homicidal violence" means there could have been more than one cause of death, KSTP reports.
The Star Tribune says police sources have indicated she was either stabbed or beaten to death.
Spiller's death shocked neighbors who knew her for her gentle spirit and efforts to make life on the north side more peaceful.
Police officers who discovered her body after being asked to check on Spiller Thursday morning reported there had apparently been a break-in at her home on the 5200 block of Dupont Ave.
FOX 9 says days before she was killed, Spiller said at a community meeting that she feared retaliation after reporting neighborhood problems such as noise complaints.
