A missing person's case involving a 15-year-old runaway from the Duluth area took a couple of twists and turns over the weekend, but investigators now say Hailey Timo has returned home, the News Tribune reports.

Timo, who is from St. Louis County's Gnesen Township north of Duluth, was reported missing on Tuesday.

As KBJR reports, authorities first believed she was with a 22-year-old man she'd met on social media – but later determined she was instead picked up by two other people: a 17-year-old girl she'd befriended on social media and an 18-year-old man.

Those older teens live in southeastern Minnesota and reports on Saturday indicated Timo was staying with them in Preston ... until they saw law enforcement alerts about the search for the runaway and decided to drive Timo back to the Twin Ports, WCCO said.

Investigators said Timo was spotted in Superior, Wisconsin, at about 11 p.m. Saturday night, the Pioneer Press reports, and had dyed her hair black. According to the newspaper, the St. Louis County Sheriff's office said “Law enforcement has been unable to locate her due to her deliberate actions to remain undetected.”

But finally by Sunday evening authorities announced Timo had returned home on her own, the News Tribune says.
