A 43-year-old man who had gone swimming with his family apparently drowned in Lake Harriet in Minneapolis Sunday evening.

Rescue crews were called to north beach area of the lake around 6:30 p.m. on a report of a man who had gone underwater and not resurfaced, a news release says.

Battalion Chief Jeremy Norton told KARE 11 the man was not a strong swimmer. He went under the water near a floating dock on the north side of the lake, about 100 feet away from shore.

The search was suspended briefly Sunday night due to lightning. Divers went back in the water around 9:45 p.m., and located the body a few hours later, a news release notes.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the victim. The sheriff's office is investigating.
