The Humane Society is offering $5,000 to anyone with information about who stabbed a young pit bull in northern Minnesota.

Forum News Service reports the pit bull was found Feb. 16 in Circle Pines, of the Red Lake Indian Reservation – alive, but with "considerable blood loss" and multiple stab wounds.

A release from the Humane Society says the pup, named Jacob, was picked up by Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. He was taken to a veterinarian for medical care. Karen Good, the executive director, says the shelter received a call about an injured dog. Good says they found Jacob outside in a yard, up against a porch wall. The young male canine was found "to have been lacerated four times with a very sharp blade, knife, box cutter or razor," Good tells the Humane Society.

A Friday post on Red Lake Rosie's blog, written by Good, says Jacob is recuperating.

"He is eating well, and taking antibiotics and pain management daily," she writes. "He is gaining weight and his wounds are slowly healing."

You can find see more photos of Jacob the day he was found injured. A warning though, the pictures are fairly graphic. You can find them here.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Officer Kendall Kingbird of the Red Lake Police Department at 218-679-3313.
