Road rage incident sees driver punch out man's window, punch him in face
A man was punched in the face by a fellow driver during a road rage incident in Waite Park, police say.
The incident at 7 a.m. Wednesday happened between the driver of a Chevy Cavalier and the driver of a Ford Taurus.
The Chevy driver was traveling south on 10th Avenue North then he noticed the Taurus approaching from behind "at a high rate of speed."
The Chevy driver tried to switch lanes and the Taurus driver tried to go around him. Once again the Chevy driver tried to switch lanes, at which point the Taurus struck his vehicle.
As Waite Park PD tells it: "The Taurus then cut in front of the Cavalier and the two vehicles made contact again. The Taurus then hit the back bumper of the Cavalier causing the Cavalier to spin around."
The Taurus driver, a 55-year-old man from St. Cloud, got out of his car and approached the Chevy, yelling at the driver.
Per police, he "punched the driver’s side window, causing it to shatter, and then punched the driver in the face."
Both drivers were treated at the scene by Mayo Ambulance, but neither required hospital treatment.
The 55-year-old has been booked into jail for 2nd-degree assault, reckless driving, and criminal damage.
BMTN does not typically identify suspects until they have been charged.
