Rochester woman found dead in the snow after leaving assisted-living facility

The woman left the senior living center around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

A 92-year-old woman was found dead outside a home in Rochester after leaving a senior living facility in the middle of the night Monday.

According to Rochester Police Department, the woman, identified as Marion Keith, was found lying in the snow outside a home on the 300 block of Highland Court SW around 7:45 a.m. Monday.

Keith was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, with police saying she likely died of hypothermia. The 92-year-old was wearing a jacket but temps Monday morning dipped 10-15 degrees below freezing in southern Minnesota.

Rochester Police Department received a call at about the same time Keith had been taken to the hospital, with the call coming from Shorewood Commons Assisted Living, reporting that a resident had been missing since about 2:30 a.m.

The senior facility informed police that Keith was taken back to her room from the lobby around 2 a.m. Monday.

She was spotted on surveillance video around 2:30 a.m. leaving the building, police said. She was found a few blocks from the facility.
