A man from Rogers was found dead on a northern Minnesota lake on Tuesday.

John Michael Ritter, 70, was found unresponsive by his wife, near to his fish house on Mary Lake, near the town of Emily, around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office said that when first responders arrived, they found Ritter on his back still on the lake ice.

Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead, before being taken for autopsy to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

Ritter and his wife are from Rogers but the sheriff's office said they have a cabin on Mary Lake, which is located northeast of Brainerd.

No foul play is suspected in Ritter's death.
