Rosemount man dies, 1 critically injured in crash on Highway 52

A 22-year-old Rosemount man was killed in a crash on Highway 52 between the Twin Cities and Rochester early Thursday morning. 

Road conditions were icy when the man's 1995 Buick LeSabre left the roadway and went through the median before colliding with a northbound 2012 Ford Fusion, according to the crash report from the Minnesota State Patrol. 

The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 76-year-old man from Rochester, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus, for treatment. 

The identity of the 22-year-old Rosemount man has not been released. 

The crash happened on Hwy. 52 near County Road 7 north of Zumbrota in Minneola Township. 

There have been 18 fatalities reported on Minnesota roads so far in 2019, compared to 11 at the same time last year, according to the Office for Traffic Safety.
