Roseville Police Department is searching for a man charged in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened around 2 a.m. July 22.

Police say Daniel Alexander Jennings, 36, of Roseville, was the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a 23-year-old pedestrian on the 2500 block of Cleveland Ave. near Oakcrest Ave., with Jennings fleeing the scene before police and medics arrived.

A semi driver who was traveling northbound on Cleveland Ave. informed police that he saw the victim lying in the road of the southbound lanes of Cleveland Ave., and when he saw an SUV approaching he flashed his lights in an attempt to alert the SUV driver, but the SUV ran over the man.

The victim has been identified as Michael James Strong, 23, of Minneapolis.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Jennings, initially stopped but then fled the scene.

Investigators were able to locate the vehicle – a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe – at a motel the next day, and a witness at the hotel confirmed to police that Jennings struck someone the night before with his vehicle.

Jennings spoke to detectives on the phone and admitted to running something over on his way home from work. He then failed to show up for an agreed upon meeting with detectives, and as of July 31 he remained at-large.

Police are hoping the public can help locate Jennings, and anyone with information related to the case or where Jennings is is urged to contact Roseville PD at 651-792-7008, so file a tip online right here
