Roseville teen charged with shooting woman during parking lot fight

The incident happened Wednesday.

Authorities have filed charges in a shooting that left a woman injured in Roseville this week.

Jahree Mashoun Walker, 18, was charged Friday with two counts of 2nd degree assault in connection with the shooting, which took place Wednesday night in a parking lot on the 2700 block of Rice Street.

According to a press release from the Roseville Police Department, the incident started with an altercation involving six to eight people; two shots were fired, and "the groups fled in separate vehicles."

Walker was arrested without incident at a nearby apartment, where authorities executed a search warrant and found the gun that was used in the shooting as well as a 9 mm cartridge in the pants Walker had been wearing at the time, the release says.

The 21-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to her back, though her injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

According to the charges, per the Pioneer Press, Walker "reportedly admitted to firing the first round," but told police his brother fired the second one — though his brother told police Walker fired both rounds.

The paper also notes the altercation "appears to have started over a pair of Beats by Dre headphones."

Anyone with additional information related to the shooting is urged to call the Roseville Police Department at 651-792-7008, or submit an online tip at the city's website.
