Samsung's washing machines are exploding now, too

First it was Samsung's exploding Galaxy Note7. Now, Samsung's washing machines are exploding too.

Wednesday, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning, saying it's working with the company "to address safety issues related to certain top-load washing machines made between March 2011 and April 2016."

Although the warning doesn't specify exactly what the "safety issues" are, sources like CNN are reporting that it has something to do with a lawsuit filed more than a month ago by customers who said their machines exploded.

"In rare cases, affected units may experience abnormal vibrations that could pose a risk of personal injury or property damage when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant items," Samsung said in a statement

By "abnormal vibrations," ABC news says the statement might be referring to the machines' nasty habit of breaking apart and spewing nuts and wires around the laundry room.

“It was the loudest sound. It sounded like a bomb went off in my ear,” a woman in Georgia told the network.

CNN says customers in Texas and Indiana have told similar stories. In fact, since early last year, ABC notes 21 people have reported exploding washing machines.

"It is important to note that Samsung customers have completed hundreds of millions of loads without incident since 2011," Samsung said in its statement.

So what do you do if you have one of the affected models?

Samsung customers just use the lower speed delicate cycle when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant materials. The company says there haven't been any reported incidents using that cycle.

Earlier this month, Samsung recalled a million Galaxy Note7s after dozens of them burst into flames.
