Scattered flooding may spread with more rain on the way

There are already flood warnings on a couple MN rivers.

The month's worth of rain that fell on parts of Minnesota in a day or two this week hasn't all drained away yet.

So we don't exactly need any more showers. But that's what's headed our way, forecasters say.

As the weekend approaches, stay tuned for reports of flooding. A few rivers in southern Minnesota are already near flood stage.

The National Weather Service has put out flood warnings for the Cottonwood River at New Ulm and the Redwood River at Redwood Falls.

In Pine County, which is the east-central part of the state, the Snake River is rising and the sheriff's office said Wednesday one county road is already underwater.

According to the Weather Service the next three days all have the potential for more rain but Friday looks the wettest.

You can keep up with the flooding situation in real time by checking reports from Minnesota's river gauges at this page.

Safety officials emphasize how important it is to stay off any road that's covered with water. You can't really tell how deep it is or how fast it's moving.
