Search crews looking for man seen in the Mississippi River in St. Cloud

People reported seeing the man struggling to stay above water.

A person seen in the Mississippi River in St. Cloud has gone missing, prompting a large search of the river and surrounding area on Monday night. 

A press release from the St. Cloud Police Department says the person, described as an adult, white male wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt, was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. Monday, with people in the area saying they "observed what appeared to be an adult male walk into the river and start to swim as if he was going to cross to the east side." 

The man is believed to have gone in the water near Fifth Avenue North. 

Multiple people told the St. Cloud Times that he appeared to be struggling to keep his head above water. 

In addition to St. Cloud police and fire departments, the search includes help from the DNR and the Stearns County Dive Team. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 320-255-1301.
