Search for Menards shoplifters, one of whom broke police officer's arm

Police in Waite Park are on the lookout for a pair of suspected thieves who assaulted an officer who was trying to arrest them.

The assault happened at Menards at 251 10th Avenue South in Waite Park at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, when police were called to report of a shoplifting.

The suspects had fled, but the officer found one of them, and during the ensuing struggle had their arm broken.

The suspects have been identified as Dean Drosier, 20, of Little Falls, who is wanted for theft, and Derek Plante, 23, who is wanted for theft and two counts of assault.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injury.

Waite Park PD has issued a plea for any information of the two suspects' whereabouts.
