The search in Texas for a missing 25-year-old man from Minnesota has been called off after a body was found in a lake on Monday afternoon.
Christopher Jay White, 25, of Minneapolis, attended a music festival in Austin, Texas on Friday night and went missing after swimming with friends in a pool early Saturday morning.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office stopped the search for White after someone reported a body floating in Lake Austin just before 1 p.m. Monday.
In a press briefing Monday afternoon, Kristen Dark of the Travis County Sheriff's Office said the body was that of a man in his 20s, although Dark didn't confirm that it was White.
"It makes sense that it could be based on the location where the body was in proximity to the last known location where this person was," said Dark, via KVUE. "The fact that he mentioned that he might go to the dock gave us the strong inclination that he might be in the water."
Dark said friends last saw White between 5-6 a.m. Saturday and White had indicated that he wanted to go down to a dock. His friends believed he was intoxicated at that time.
The medical examiner will determine the body's identity and cause of death. It's also too early to rule out foul play, said Dark.
Victim services are working with White's family and friends.
