Search for missing swimmer on east-central Minnesota lake

The swimmer was reported missing on Saturday afternoon.

The search for a swimmer who went missing on Saturday afternoon is ongoing at Sturgeon Lake. 

The 28-year-old swimmer was reported missing at approximately 4:24 p.m. Saturday. Search crews were looking for the swimmer until 2 a.m. Sunday before clearing the lake. The search resumed at 8 a.m. Sunday and has been ongoing since. 

Joining in the search are the Sturgeon Lake and Moose Lake Fire Departments, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, the DNR and divers from the Stacy Lent Fire Department. 

Sturgeon Lake is located to the east of Interstate 35 in east-central Minnesota, not too far south from Moose Lake.
