One man is safe but another remains missing after being thrown from their boat on a central Minnesota lake Tuesday afternoon.

A news release from Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch says the two men were boating on Hay Lake when they went into the water.

First responders found the adult driver of the boat in the water and took him to shore where he was treated for minor injuries. The passenger, described as an adult male, was not located, prompting a search and rescue operation.

As of 6 a.m. Wednesday the man had not been found.
