A search is expected to resume Tuesday morning after deputies found an unoccupied boat on the Minnesota River Monday morning.
The running, empty boat was found near the shoreline on the river near Belle Plaine at 10:50 a.m.
Nobody was found in the immediate vicinity, prompting a major search operation being launched both on the water and from the shore.
As of Monday evening, no occupants of the boat had been found.
The search was expected to continue until dark conditions made it unsafe for rescue teams, with the Scott County Sheriff's Office saying the search will resume on Tuesday.
Thirteen agencies responded to the scene, including sheriff's and police departments, fire crews, the DNR, ambulance teams and Shakopee Mdewakanton Public Safety.
