Authorities have made one arrest and continue to search for a second person of interest in an armed robbery in the Bemidji area.

According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, the Lakes Market convenience store located on the 13000 block of Irvine Ave. NW in Turtle Lake Township – 7 miles north of Bemidji – was robbed at gunpoint Monday around 9:30 p.m.

Both suspects had guns and were able to escape with an unknown amount of cash and merchandise. They fled in a stolen vehicle that was located shortly after the 911 call was made, having been left unoccupied in a ditch a few miles from the convenience store.

Investigators were able to find a second stolen vehicle and a gun with evidence that led to the arrest of a suspect. The man was booked into the Beltrami County Jail with criminal charges pending.

The arrest also led to the identification of a second person of interest, whom police have identified as 19-year-old Carlito M. Kingbird, of Bemidji. The sheriff's office is asking the public to come forward with any information that could lead to his location.

The public is advised, however, to avoid approaching Kingbird. Anyone with information should call 218-333-9111, and select Option 2.
