Search ongoing for southern Minnesota man after his vehicle was located near Sleepy Eye

An attempt to locate the man turned up his empty vehicle.

Authorities in south-central Minnesota are asking the public to keep an eye out for a 73-year-old man who's been reported missing. 

According to the Brown County Sheriff's Office, Vincent Hugo Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye has been reported missing by the Sleepy Eye Police Department after searchers found his vehicle, but not him. 

Mathiowetz's vehicle was found south of Sleepy Eye around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, at the Cottonwood River bridge landing off Hwy. 4. 

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red t-shirt, a blue and white flannel with brown work boots. He also wears glasses and a watch.

A large search party involving local police, sheriff and fire departments, along with help from the Minnesota DNR, a K-9 unit and a drone began scanning the area for the man but he wasn't found.

Mathiowetz has been entered as a missing person and the search for him is ongoing.
