The search for a missing hunter in west-central Minnesota has sadly ended with the discovery of a body.
On Sunday, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office announced that the man, an as-yet unidentified 56-year-old from Willmar, had been found dead on a hunting property near Dovre Township, about eight miles north of Willmar.
The man came to the area to bow hunt earlier Saturday, the release says. When his family couldn't get ahold of him later in the day, they reported him missing. A ground search by the sheriff's office and the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad ultimately found the hunter's body in the area.
Though a medical examiner will determine his cause of death, the release says it was "possibly due to a medical condition." An investigation is now underway.
The man will be identified once his next of kin are notified, the sheriff's office says.
