One of two teens responsible for the murder of 5-year-old Nizzel George as he slept on his grandmother's couch in north Minneapolis last summer pleaded guilty Tuesday.

The Star Tribune reports 16-year-old Julian Kijuan Lamar Anderson of Minneapolis, who was 15 at the time on the crime, admitted to second-degree murder. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped two first-degree murder charges and another second-degree murder charge.

Anderson was sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Nizzel was killed after at least 10 shots were fired into his grandmother's residence on June 26, 2012, hitting Nizzel in the back.

The other teen involved, 17-year-old Stephon Shannon, also received a 28-year sentence in February.

Shannon admitted the shooting was in retaliation for an earlier gang shooting.

Nizzel was the second of two small children to be killed by stray bullets in their north Minneapolis homes in a six-month period, the newspaper reported.

Three-year-old Terrell Mayes was fatally shot inside his home the day after Christmas in 2011 as he ran for safety when gunfire erupted outside his home.

Earlier this month, Minneapolis police announced a $60,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Terrell's killer.
