Semi driver dies in freak incident that closed I-694
A semi driver died when the steel beams he was hauling crashed into his cab as he was braking.
The freak incident closed down I-694 in Oakdale for more than three hours on Saturday afternoon, with the interstate re-opening at around 4 p.m.
The 2017 Kenworth W900 semi was southbound when the driver, identified as 26-year-old Nelson Masse, applied the brakes.
According to the State Patrol, the braking caused the "load of steel beams to shift into cab, resulting in death of driver."
No crash happened as a result of the incident.
It's not been revealed where Masse is from.
