One of the six people arrested by during a counter-protest at a pro-President Trump rally in St. Paul on Saturday is the son of Sen. Tim Kaine.

St. Paul Police's jail log shows Linwood Michael Kaine, 24, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree riot after the "March 4 Trump" rally in St. Paul, where around 400 marchers were met by 50 counter-protesters.

The Pioneer Press reports that Kaine was apprehended near Rice Street and University, less than a block from the Capitol, shortly after the disturbance in the Capitol. Police didn't realize who his father was until told by reporters.

The Minneapolis resident and Carleton College alum was released from Ramsey County jail on Tuesday pending further investigation, the newspaper notes.

In a statement to the Washington Post, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine – a St. Paul native who ran as Hillary Clinton's running mate during last year's election campaign – said: "We love that our three children have their own views and concerns about current political issues. They fully understand the responsibility to express those concerns peacefully."

The pro-Trump marchers had gathered in the rotunda in the State Capitol to hear speeches when the disruption began about half an hour in, with air whistles and horns interrupting proceedings.

By the end, six people were arrested. A spokesperson for the St. Paul Police Department told GoMN five people were arrested for setting off fireworks and spraying chemical irritant inside the building.

The State Patrol arrested a sixth person for disorderly conduct, the Star Tribune reported.

GoMN News doesn't usually name suspects until they have been charged, but in this case they are related to a prominent public figure, who has made a statement about the arrest.
