Separate St. Paul shootings leave 1 dead, 1 in critical condition

The fatal shooting marked the 30th homicide in the city this year.

Saint Paul police are investigating the city's 30th homicide of the year following a shooting Saturday night. 

According to police, the shooting was reported around 8 p.m. near the intersection fo Rice Street and Sherburne Ave. in the Frogtown neighborhood. Responding officers arrived at the scene and found a victim in the street. 

The male had been shot multiple times. He was transported to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released at a later stage by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. 

A second, unrelated shooting happened approximately 45 minutes after the 8 p.m. homicide, with police finding a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest on the 1100 block of East Fourth Street. 

The 22-year-old was taken to Regions Hospital in critical condition and his current condition is unknown. 

No arrests have been made and anyone with information about the shootings is urged to contact St. Paul PD at 651-266-5650.
