Separate Sunday shootings injure 2 women, 1 boy in Minneapolis

The shootings happened within about a mile from each other.

Two women and a boy were injured in separate shootings in Minneapolis over the weekend. 

According to Minneapolis Police Department, a boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting around 2 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of West Broadway Ave. There are no suspects and police continue to investigate. 

Earlier, at around 1 a.m. Sunday, police responded to reports of gunshots near Plymouth Ave. and Penn Ave. N.

On arrival, officers came upon a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed with its lights off, with the driver fleeing when police attempted to pull them over.

Eventually, the driver stopped and three people inside took off running. One suspect was arrested and a gun was found inside the vehicle.

During the pursuit, other officers arrived at the house near Plymouth and Penn where the shots had been reported, and found two women suffering gunshot wounds.

Both women were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with survivable injuries. 

The shootings haven't been connected but they occurred within about a mile of each other.
