A multi-vehicle crash closed Hwy. 77 northbound in Eagan for a brief time, while Interstate 35 is likely to be closed for "a while" after a serious crash north of the metro.

Eagan police report that icy conditions caused by light snow/rain overnight led to the crash on northbound Hwy. 77 near Interstate 35E.

At this stage no information has been released in relation to any injuries, but the roadway re-opened around 7:15 a.m.

Meanwhile, I-35 is closed northbound between North Branch and Harris north of the Twin Cities metro.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office posted at around 6:20 a.m. that officers are on the scene of a crash, which it described as "serious."

While few details are available, the sheriff's office says the northbound road will be "shut down for a while."

MnDOT estimates that I-35 North will be closed for at least two hours as of 7 a.m., while Hwy. 77 North likely won't re-open till around 8:30 a.m.
