A 14-year-old girl who ran away from home on New Year's Day is the subject of a missing person report with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

The department is asking the public for help finding Sarahy Ruiz, who they say ran away from her home in Shoreview around 9 p.m. Friday.

Ruiz was last seen wearing black yoga pants, a black sweatshirt with a bear on it and a red Puma backpack. She is described as a 5-foot-7, 140-pound Hispanic girl with black hair and brown eyes.

The sheriff's office believes Ruiz may be in Minneapolis or Little Canada. Anyone with information that could help locate her is urged to call the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office at 651-266-730.
