Sheriff: 25-year-old woman run over after falling off towed ATV
A 25-year-old woman had to be airlifted to the hospital after falling off a towed ATV and being run over.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened just after 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, along Pikus Forest Road in Smokey Hollow Township, about 45 miles northwest of Brainerd.
The woman - from Remer, Minnesota - was operating an ATV as it was being towed by another ATV. At one point, she fell off her ATV and was run over, the sheriff's office said.
She was treated at the scene for serious injuries, but had to be taken via helicopter to a Duluth hospital. The sheriff's office does not have an update on her condition.
Minnesota has seen a rise in off-highway vehicle ridership, which officials last fall linked to an increase in serious and fatal OHV incidents.
