Sheriff: Driver traveling wrong way on I-94 was 3 times over limit
A driver traveling the wrong way down Interstate 94 in Douglas County was found to have a blood alcohol concentration that was more than three times the legal limit.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says it received multiple reports of a wrong way driver on I-94 at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Deputies found the vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lane near Mile Marker 106 and blocked it using patrol cars.
The driver was showing “significant signs of impairment” at the time of arrest. A breath sample showed the driver had a BAC of three and a half times the legal limit for driving, according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver sustained minor injuries during the incident, and one patrol car was damaged.
“Statistics show an increase in DWI arrests and alcohol-related crashes during the holidays,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
“The Douglas County Sheriff's Office want to remind everyone to plan a sober ride, slow down, and drive carefully during the holidays and the winter season.”
