A robbery victim is lucky to be alive after a suspect pointed a gun at his head and pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't fire, according to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

The assault and aggravated robbery happened just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 29 in rural Harvey Township, located north of Hwy. 12 between Litchfield and Grove City in Meeker County, Minnesota.

Investigators executive multiple search warrants in connection to the case, with one search turning up personal items stolen from the victim, in addition to drug-related items and a stolen vehicle on the property.

A 20-year-old man from Litchfield was arrested in connection with the aggravated robbery, with police saying he also reached out to an accomplice while in jail, instructing them to get rid of the gun used in the assault.

The gun was later found in a lake by the Litchfield Rescue Squad dive team.

Five people were arrested in total as part of the wider investigation, including a 30-year-old woman from Eden Valley for storage of methamphetamine in the presence of a child.

The sheriff's office says more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
