Sheriff: Man, 25, found dead near St. Cloud Airport was shot

The victim was found by a passerby on Nov. 14.

A man who was found dead near St. Cloud Regional Airport this week died from a gunshot wound and the case is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. 

Tyler Ecklund, 25, was found dead by a passerby Nov. 14 near the airport in a vacant lot on the 1000 block of 55th Ave. SE. Authorities initially said his death was suspicious, though they waited for autopsy results to officially rule it a homicide. 

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the sheriff's office by calling 763-765-3500. People can also call Tri-County CrimeStoppers at 320-255-1301. Tips that lead to the arrest and charges are eligible for a cash reward. 

St. Cloud Police Department and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting the investigation.
