Sheriff: Man crushed victim's skull in assault near Zimmerman
An assault near Zimmerman on Friday night left a man in critical condition.
According to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office, a fight at a residence in the 14000 block of 285th Avenue Northwest in Baldwin Township resulted in a 20-year-old victim being hit in the head with an unidentified weapon.
Deputies weren't informed of the assault until Saturday morning when a relative called to report the incident, adding that the victim had been taken to Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton by a friend.
Emergency personnel at the hospital then airlifted the victim to the University of Minnesota Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for a crushed skull and internal bleeding. He was listed in critical condition.

On Saturday afternoon, authorities arrested Dyllan Eric Hunter Wilhite, 20, of Zimmerman in connection to the assault.
Wilhite was booked at the Sherburne County Jail on charges of first-degree assault.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
