Sheriff: Minnesota man trampled to death by cattle
A 41-year-old man in west-central Minnesota is dead following a possible encounter with a bull and cows last weekend.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office issued a release Tuesday saying a man was found dead near a shed in a cattle yard located at 7439 Thoennes Lane NW near Parkers Prairie around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15.
Deputies talked to family members at the scene and found Craig Thoennes, 41, of Parkers Prairie, deceased at the scene. His body was in the cattle yard, where a bull and two cows roaming free.
"At this time, it appears the male had been trampled by the bull and/or cows," says Sheriff Troy Wolbersen.
According to KXRA, friends said Thoennes "was planning to get rid of the bull because it was said to be a dangerous animal."
An official cause of death won't be determined until the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office completes an autopsy.
