A missing Foley man, whose body was found earlier this week, was murdered, according to sheriff's officials.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office said Friday that 31-year-old Jamie Wylie was the victim of homicidal violence.

His body was found Tuesday on the side of a county road just east of St. Cloud. A passerby spotted Wylie's body behind a nearby car dealership.

According to WCCO, the Midwest Medical Examiner's office ruled Wylie's death a homicide on Wednesday.

Wylie's wife and friends described him as upset when he left a friend's home in St. Cloud on the night of Dec. 9, 2013. He was last heard from in a cell phone call that night after he left.

He disappeared on the one-year anniversary of Danielle Jelinek's disappearance. Both grew up in Cottage Grove and ran in the same circles, according to friends.

A news release from Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett says the investigation into Wylie's death is ongoing.

Some members of Wylie's family said in December they were concerned about his safety when they hadn't heard from him and searches by friends and family turned up empty.

According to the St. Cloud Times, court records indicate that investigators searched the house in Foley where Wylie lived with his wife on Dec. 20 to try and help determine what happened to him.

The newspaper also says authorities used a search warrant in January to get cellphone information to learn where Wylie was when calls were made to his phone in the days after he was reported missing.

The St. Cloud Times reports investigators have declined to comment on whether they have identified any suspects in Wylie's death.

Authorities ask anyone with information on Wylie's murder to contact the Benton County Sheriff's office at 320-986-7201 or Tri- County Crime Stoppers at 800-255-1301.
