Sheriff: Southern Minnesota woman's death ruled suspicious, husband arrested
The Brown County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man who called 911 to report the death of his wife.
The 58-year-old man reported his wife's death around 11:45 a.m. Thursday. Deputies arrived at 18151 Sperl Avenue in Searles, Minnesota, and were met by the man who said his wife was dead inside the house.
The sheriff's office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated the scene and ruled the woman's death suspicious, identifying her as 69-year-old Debra Lynn Johnson.
The woman's husband was arrested without incident and booked into the Brown County Jail where he is facing charges of criminal neglect.
The woman's body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine her cause of death.
Searles is a town with a population of 171 people (2010 census). It's located seven miles south of New Ulm and about 25 miles west of Mankato.
