A sheriff's deputy in North Dakota was arrested for DUI after crashing into a car wash Monday.
According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, a Dep. Jacob Danielson was driving his personal vehicle when he crashed at Custom Express Car Wash in South Fargo around 6 p.m.
Two of Danielson's children were in the vehicle with him at the time of the crash, though neither was injured. Nor was Danielson, who was "subsequently arrested" for driving under the influence of alcohol with a minor present, the sheriff's office announced.
Danielson is a licensed correctional deputy at the Cass County Jail, where he has been employed since May 2020. He is now on administrative leave pending further investigation.
“In order to maintain the trust of the citizens we serve, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office will strive to be accountable and transparent in these types of situations. Although we realize that police officers can make mistakes, they are not above the law and need to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and be held accountable when necessary," Sheriff Jesse Jahner said in a release.
