A man suspected of attacking a 77-year-old man in Polk County, Wisconsin, on Friday has been arrested.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a rural Clear Lake home at 6:09 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, on a report of attempted homicide.
The victim had "blunt-force trauma and edged weapon wounds," with the sheriff's office noting he fought off the attack and protected himself with a shotgun. The victim fired a shot, but didn't hit the suspect.
The victim was airlifted to Regions Hospital and is in stable condition.
The suspect, a 32-year-old Glenwood City, Wisconsin, man, fled the scene. He was believed to have been under the influence of controlled substances, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect was later located and taken into custody.
