Update: 1 shot dead at festival in St. Paul's Como Park

UPDATE 9:25 A.M.

St. Paul police have arrested two people in connection to the murder. 

Nougai Xiong, 27, of St. Paul, was arrested for 2nd degree murder and for an outstanding warrant, and Yang Houa Xiong, 28, of La Crosse, Wisconsin has been arrested for aiding and abetting.


A man has died following a shooting at Como Regional Park in St. Paul on Sunday, where thousands were gathered to celebrate the 38th Annual Hmong Freedom Festival.

Several shots were fired around 4:30 p.m. in an area just west of the Como Regional Park Pool, St. Paul police said.

Police arrived to find a man had been shot, and he was taken to Regions Hospital.

He died a short time later while being treated for his injuries.

Police are now interviewing witnesses, several of whom have been brought to headquarters for interviews. No arrests have been made yet.

St. Paul police are looking for suspects involved in a shooting at a community pool on Sunday afternoon. 

According to authorities, one person was shot twice around 4:30 p.m. at the Como Regional Park Pool. The victim was shot twice and taken to Regions Hospital in critical condition. 

The case is under investigation and police are talking to witnesses at the scene. No arrests had been made at the time this story was published.
